Starting from a place to share photos, to be a medium for communicating and doing business. Since purchased by Facebook, Instagram feature continues to grow. Instagram has recently been secretly incorporating features like the one in WhatsApp, which you can see when the last time your friends went online via DM.
How it works similar to WhatsApp, the user can choose whether or not to enable this feature. If it is not enabled then you as a user can not see the time of the last activity of another user.
Conversely, if the user activates this feature, then who can see the update is just an account of Instagram friends who followed or who had first sent a message through the DM feature.
Unlike the Messenger app on Facebook, there is no option to disable similar features. So Facebook friends still keep seeing the latest updates from other users.
This feature is still in trial stage for certain users. This feature will likely come out in the latest updates.
